Rules and Judging Criteria

Official Rules and Regulations
Completed applications will be accepted until January 15, 2007. Applications submitted after January 15, 2007 will not be accepted without approval of the Shad Derby Committee.
Submissions must include completed application, entry fee and proof of the entrants age. Checks must be made payable to the Windsor Shad Derby Committee. Entrant must never have been married. Candidates must be at least a senior in high school and between the ages of 17 and 22 by February 15, 2007. Entrant and escort cannot be related to anyone serving on the Shad Derby Committee, Shad Fest Bureau, or the panel of judges.
Entrant must be a resident of Windsor. A resident attending school out of town or state may enter. Candidates must be at least a senior in high school and between the ages of 17 and 22 by February 15, 2007. Entrant and escort cannot be related to anyone serving on the 2007 Shad Derby Committee, Shad Fest Bureau, or the panel of judges. Sponsor must be a Windsor Organization, business person, or merchant. Sponsor must pay a $250.00 entry fee at the time of application. If entrant is not selected as a candidate, the sponsor's check will be returned and the application destroyed. Sponsors or their representatives must attend the Coronation Ball on May 5th and the Shad Derby Parade and Green Activities on Shad Derby Day. The first fifteen completed applications will be selected by January 15, 2007. No sponsor may take out a paid advertisement on behalf of his or her candidate. Photographs must be taken by the official Shad Derby Queen's Photographer at the designated time. No retakes of photos will be allowed. Entrants must be available for the following events:
Photo Session Saturday, Feb 3, 2007 Orientation Wednesday January 31, 2007 Shad Derby Gala Friday, March 9, 2007 Secondary Judging Tuesday, April 3, 2007 Coronation Ball Rehearsal TBA Coronation Ball Saturday, May 5, 2007
Failure to attend these functions is grounds for disqualification. The Queen and her Court are also expected to attend scheduled events during the entire Shad derby Festival. Entrants must agree to abide by all the rules and regulations of the Miss Windsor Shad Derby Festival now in effect, or as announced hereafter.

Judging Criteria
The breakdown of Judging as follows:
I. Primary Judging
Shad Derby Gala - 15%: You will be judged on your:
Poise Appearance Presentation of Introduction Speech ( One Minute )
II. Secondary Judging
Judge's Interviews - 60% Each candidate will be evaluated based on:
Involvement - community and school Outside interests Knowledge of current events Appearance Poise Personality Attitude in answer to question "Why do you want to be the Shad Derby Queen?"
It should be noted, the judges determine the questions and content of the interviews.
III. Final Judging
Coronation Ball - 25% Each candidate will be judged on:
